Meg Lawrie

Meg Lawrie is a dedicated musician! Her talents as a pianist, violinist and champion ballad singer, undoubtedly provide her with all round excellence.

Aranmore’s first album “Bygone Days” was inspired by Meg’s grandfather, Michael Cullen. He was a typical village fiddler in rural Ireland, serving his community playing for Ceilidhs and other social gatherings.  This tradition has been passed down to Meg via her mother Lily, herself a fiddler and founder member of the Birmingham Ceilidh Band. Meg and her two sisters, Kathleen and Bobbie, were soon dancing and playing Irish music, even before they were school age. They in turn, have taught and influenced many other musicians.

Meg arranges and composes much of the music featured on Aranmore’s albums. Some of Meg’s original compositions can be heard on Aranmore’s album “Breath of God”, a superb blend of sacred music inspired by the work of Abbess Hildegard of Bingen.
